Who we are
SEEN is operated by Independent Broadcasting Network Limited ("we", "us"), West Wing Studios, Unit 166, The Mall, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 2TL, UK. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
SEEN is a streaming catalogue of classic films plus originals and exclusives, available at app.seen.plus and on the iOS and Android apps. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use SEEN and this website, how we use it and keep it safe, and your rights. We may update it from time to time and will tell you about significant changes.
When we collect personal data
- When you create a SEEN account, which you do by signing up with your email address.
- When you subscribe or make a purchase.
- When you visit this website or use the SEEN apps.
- When you contact us with a question, complaint or feedback.
- When you engage with us on social media.
This website
This marketing website has no user accounts and no backend of its own.
- Contact and data deletion forms: these do not send anything to us directly. When you press send, they open your own email app with a message addressed to support@seen.plus. We only receive what you type if you choose to send that email.
- Technical data: to show the catalogue, your browser requests data from our catalogue service, and the Lexend font is loaded from Google Fonts. As with any web request, these services receive your IP address and basic browser information.
What we collect
Depending on how you use SEEN, this can include your name and email address, account and subscription details, records of your contact with us, and details of your visits, such as your IP address, device, operating system, browser and general location.
How we use it and our legal basis
- Contract: to set up and manage your account and membership, take payment and provide the service.
- Legitimate interests: to answer your questions and complaints and keep a record of them, to run and improve our services, to show you relevant content, and to protect you and us from fraud.
- Legal obligation: to send notices the law requires, and to share data with law enforcement where we are legally required to.
- Consent: to send you news about content and services by email or in the app, if you agree. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or your account settings.
Payments
Payments are taken by trusted third-party payment providers through a secure web checkout. We do not receive or store your card details. Never send card details to us by email.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We only share limited data with essential service providers, such as payment processors. We may also share data where needed to enforce our terms, to prevent fraud or protect copyright, or when the police or another authority makes a valid legal request.
Keeping your data safe
We use https on our websites and apps, protect access to personal data with passwords and monitor our systems for vulnerabilities. We have procedures to deal with any suspected data breach and to tell you and the regulator where required.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected for, and to meet our legal and contractual obligations. After that it is deleted or anonymised.
International transfers
Our services are run from the UK. If you are outside the UK, your data may be transferred to and stored in the UK, and we take reasonable steps to protect it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, to stop direct marketing, and to withdraw consent at any time, in the circumstances set out in the law. Access requests are free, although the law allows a reasonable fee for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive. We will ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and if we cannot act on it we will explain why.
To ask us to delete your SEEN account data, email us or, where available in the SEEN app, go to Settings > Account > Deactivate account, which sends us a request to delete your data. For any other request, email support@seen.plus or write to the Data Protection Officer, Independent Broadcasting Network Limited, West Wing Studios, Unit 166, The Mall, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 2TL, UK.
